I’m a bonafide creative, idea acrobat and momentum maker. My purpose is to amplify others. I’ve juggled the roles and responsibilities of an Art director, Chief Creative Officer, Project Manager, Graphic Designer, Video Editor, Digital Strategist, Event Coordinator, Social Media Manager, Web Developer, Sales Director, Music Consultant and Communications Specialist over the past 13 years. My unique skill set and experiences combined with an infinite grind provide me with the ingredients to unequivocally make magic happen.
My creative endeavours include: being a touring rap artist, a spoken word poet/performer as the spokesmen for ATB Financial’s award-winning “Amplify” Campaign, an actor featured in nationally syndicated commercials, public speaking, voice overs, hosting and emceeing events. This background has turned me into an Entrepreneur, A&R/Music Consultant, a judge for the Juno Awards and a current member of the Music Calgary board of directors.
I’m also a Culture Cultivator. JazzYYC writes, “As a culture builder, Beni Johnson was recently awarded Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40 class of 2015 by Avenue Magazine. He has developed some of the most respected and unique cultural entertainment experiences in the urban arts and black community, including LEGACIES, Say Word, REWIND Party Series, Feedback Friday, The Black Gold Awards and the Obsidian Awards. He is most recognized for his work as founder of the 10 at 10 showcase, Calgary’s biggest platform for hip hop music and culture but as an artist, his rap group “The Humble Giants” was recently selected as one of only a handful of Canadians to perform at SXSW (South by South West). Motivated by his own personal mantra, “let’s build”, Beni Johnson has built communities for enthusiasts and artists of all disciplines to meet, collaborate and, above all, celebrate the positive spirit that a true growing city embodies.”
